The Ministry of Defense ranks second in the highest government spending allocation for 2026 among Indonesian government institutions.

The Ministry of Defense (Kemhan) has been allocated a budget of IDR 185 trillion in the 2026 Draft State Budget (RAPBN), with the following breakdown:

  • Management Support : IDR 81.4 trillion
  • Defense Equipment Modernization : IDR 81.39 trillion
  • Soldier Welfare : IDR 14.48 trillion
  • Implementation of TNI Duties : IDR 5.54 trillion
  • Research, Industry, and Education : IDR 1.79 trillion
  • Resource Development : IDR 0.36 trillion
  • Policy and Regulation : IDR 0.04 trillion

This budget allocation was discussed during a Working Meeting of Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) with the Vice Minister of Defense, representing the Minister of Defense, focusing on the Ministry of Defense and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Work Plan and Budget (RKA) for Fiscal Year 2026.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Defense reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining transparency, accountability, and the continuity of national defense development. The Vice Minister also emphasized that defense development is not only focused on sovereignty and security but also supports national economic stability through the concept of a defense-supporting economy, where defense equipment is expected to serve as a stabilizing factor driving national progress and public welfare.

As part of efforts to realize defense equipment modernization and strengthen the domestic defense industry, the 2026 Ministry of Defense budget allocation also serves as an important momentum for the organization of the Indo Defence Expo & Forum. This biennial international exhibition is not only a showcase of the latest defense technologies but also a strategic platform for the Ministry of Defense, TNI, the national defense industry, and global partners to foster cooperation and technology transfer. Through Indo Defence, the government’s vision of a defense-supporting economy can be realized, where the defense industry not only strengthens the nation’s sovereignty and security but also opens investment opportunities, creates jobs, and enhances national competitiveness on the global stage.
